The ideal place for tasting wine and typical local products.

The “osmize” or in original slovenian language “osmice”, offer their guests the experience of tasting genuine products such as wine, eggs, ham, salami and cheese. The osmize are commonly organizes directly at home or in the cellar of the farmer who produces them. They are spread throughout the province of Trieste, especially on the karst.

“Gabrovec’s Osmiza in Prepotto”

This tradition dates back to the era of Charlemagne. The peasants indicated the activity of selling wine with an ivy branch. The right of selling their own products was then re-established by Joseph II of Habsburg in 1784. The farmers were allowed to do that mast 8 days in a year. The term “osmica” derives in fact from the word “osem” that means “eight”.
